WHAT ARE WRINKLE REDUCERS?
Wrinkle reducers are a quick, minimal-downtime treatment that can help soften fine lines and wrinkles in the upper and lower face.
WHAT BRANDS OF WRINKLE REDUCERS DO YOU OFFER?
At JECT, we offer four brands of wrinkle reducers: Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, and Daxxify.
HOW DO WRINKLE REDUCERS WORK?
Wrinkle reducers work by preventing contraction of specific muscles of the face to temporarily improve, reduce or eliminate facial lines and wrinkles.
For example, to treat “11” lines, the product is injected into the glabella muscle (the muscle directly below the “11” lines). The product will relax this muscle over about two weeks and prevent it from contracting. If the muscle cannot contract and pull down the surrounding skin, the “11” lines will not form from the skin folding.
It is important to note that deeper lines present at rest, aka static lines, may not have complete resolution with the first treatment. Consistently treating these areas every three months will prevent the skin from repeatedly creasing, and therefore improve these lines over time.
Starting wrinkle reducer treatments as soon as you begin to see lines at rest is recommended to prevent static line formation.
HOW LONG WILL MY WRINKLE REDUCERS LAST?
Wrinkle reducers typically last around three to four months. JECT recommends treatment spaced at least 90 days apart.
DO YOU CHARGE BY UNIT OR BY AREA?
At JECT, we charge wrinkle reducer pricing by area, otherwise known as by muscle group.
For example, the three main muscle groups of the upper face are: the frontalis (forehead lines), the glabella (“11” lines), and orbicularis oculi (crows feet). Treating the full upper face together would be charged as three separate areas.
WHAT CAN WRINKLE REDUCERS TREAT?
Wrinkle reducers can treat a variety of areas in the face. In the upper face, they can treat forehead lines, “11” lines between the brows, and crows feet.
In the lower face, they can treat bunny lines, gummy smile, chin dimpling, vertical neck bands, and widening of the jawline. They can be used to improve symptoms of TMJ (teeth grinding), and can be used to give more volume to the upper lip (lip flip).
WHAT SHOULD I AVOID DOING BEFORE WRINKLE REDUCER TREATMENT?
JECT recommends avoiding alcohol and blood thinners such as Aspirin and NSAIDs for 48 hours prior to your appointment, as these can increase your risk of bruising.
IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME AFTER WRINKLE REDUCERS?
Mild bruising can occur, but will typically subside after a few days. You may apply ice and arnica to the affected area periodically if bruising occurs.
WHAT SHOULD I AVOID DOING AFTER WRINKLE REDUCER TREATMENT?
JECT recommends avoiding exercise, alcohol and blood thinners such as aspirin and NSAIDs for 24 hours after your appointment, as these can increase your risk of bruising.
Avoid lying face down for four hours after treatment and facial massage and at-home skin care devices for two weeks.
It is recommended to avoid wearing makeup for 12 hours after treatment.
